Create great looking, 3-Dimensional, gooey looking text . This technique does require minimal drawing skills but is definitely suitable for beginners. Enjoy and stay tuned for more tutorials!

Gooey Photoshop Text Tutorial

Step 1 – Canvas

It’s important for this tutorial that you set up the same size canvas as the effects we’ll apply will vary depending on how many pixels it’s across. To use in smaller or bigger projects you will need to tweak the settings applied throughout this tutorial. Set up a 2500 X 1500 pixel, RGB document at 300dpi.

Step 2 – Texting

Select the Horizontal Type Tool, set the colour to a lightish grey and write your word. It’s best to use a fairly uncomplicated and bold font, I’ve gone for Avant Garde in Bold. Adjust the tracking to 50 as we’ll need space in between letters to allow for gooey growth. Press CTRL+T or go to Edit > Free Transform and resize your text by holding the SHIFT key (to maintain aspect ratio) and pulling one of the corner points with the mouse.

Step 3 – Ready the Tools

Select the Pen Tool and set it Shape Layers. Set the foreground colour to 40C, 10M, 100Y, 0K. Zoom into 100% and you are now ready to draw.

Step 4 – Drawing

Draw your first point at the start of the first letter. The best way to draw a curve is to position one anchor point at the origin of the curve and one at the end point or point at which the curve changes. To split an anchor point you hold the ALT key and click on the last drawn anchor point. This will delete the outward part of the handle and allow you to draw another one in (on the same anchor point) at any angle without altering the direction of the inward handle. This splitting technique allows for sharp angles following a curve.

Step 5 – Editing your points

Continue drawing loosely around the shape, adding some drips at the bottom to mimic gravity. Use the Direct Selection Tool (Behind the Path Selection Tool if you hold the mouse button) to manipulate the anchor points and the curve handles. In order to create an elongated bulbous end at the bottom of a drip you’ll need to pull the bottom facing handles out further. At any point if you’re not happy with the position or angle of your point, you can manipulate it with the Direct Selection Tool.

Step 6 – Best foot forward

I find it’s easier to draw the drips from top to bottom (following the gravitational pull) so once you hit the bottom of the letter, use the Direct Selection Tool to click anywhere on the canvas. Then select the first point (at the top of the letter) with the Pen Tool and draw in the rest. Something I forgot to mention earlier is to set the fill at 80% so you can see the letter underneath.

Step 7 – Subtracting

To get the hole in letters such as ‘O’ or ‘A’ you’ll need to set the Pen Tool to Subtract from shape area. Draw the outer shape of the ‘O’ and close off the path. Select the path thumbnail so that it highlights the path, set the Pen Tool to Subtract from shape area and draw in where the hole should be.

Step 8 – Finishing off

Complete the rest of the letters and set the Fill for each layer at 100%.

Step 9 – Inner Shadow

Select the ‘G’ layer and go to Layer > Layer Style > Inner shadow and setup as in the screen grab.

Step 10 – Inner Glow

Working on the same layer, select the Inner Glow setting and setup as in the screen grab.

Step 11 – Bevel and Emboss

Do the same with the Bevel and Emboss…

Step 12 – Satin

…And finally Satin.

Step 13 – Copy and paste

Select the ‘G’ layer and go to Layer > Layer Style > Copy Layer Style. Select the remaining letter layers and go to Layer > Layer Style > Paste Layer Style.

Step 14 – Ol’ Drippy

Draw in more drips on top of the letters. Copy and paste the Layer Style as before and go to Layer > Layer Style > Scale Effects… scale them back to fit the size of the drip, in this case it’s 40%. Then go to Layer > Layer Style > Inner Glow and scale the opacity back to 60%.

Step 15 – Rasterize and Mask

Create a new layer directly below the new drip you just drew. Select the drip and the blank layer and merge them (Layer > Merge Layers). Add a Layer Mask (Layer > Add Layer Mask > Reveal All) and use a soft-edged paintbrush loaded with black to mask off the top of the drip. Repeat this process until you’ve covered the word.

Step 16 – Depth

To add depth, draw some more drips beneath the letter layers. Copy, paste and scale the layer effects to save time.

Step 17 – Texture

It’s a good idea to add texture to the final text to make it feel more ‘real world’. You can either overlay an easily downloadable grunge texture or try the following method: Go to Filter > Noise and add a 2 pixel noise filter. Then go to Filter > Blur Gaussian Blur and apply a 0.6 pixel blur.

Simply add these layer-styles/blending-options to the text:

Getting the brushes
And now for the tricky part. I rewrote this part, because not only is this part very hard, but also because I failed to describe it detailed enough in my previous version. Luckily, now I hope I will!
Firstly, you will need to download the brushes we are going to use. If you have a good place to find nice blood-brushes, use that source. Or maybe you already have them? If not, or if you just want some awesome new ones, go to Angryblue where they got awesome blood-brushes in the downloads-section.

How to install them you might ask? If you're downloaded the file and stumbled across a zipped file containing an .abr-file, copy that file to a nice and safe location. Some say you have to copy it to the photoshop-folder, but you don't have to. If you want, it's cleaner, but it doesn't make any difference.
Once you go back to Photoshop, go to your brush-tool and open the Brush Preset Picker by clicking on the arrow pointing down in the upper taskbar containing the type of brush. Then, press the play-looking button in the top right corner and select the option Load Brushes and use the finder to locate your brushes. They will automatically be added to your list. Then simply select one and choose the desired color. In this case red.
And unlike a normal brush, just click once to apply this stencil-brush, if you will.

Adding the blood
To add the blood, create a new layer above the text-layer and use a nice red color to add some blood on that layer. Just fill it up and make sure it looks like a package of blood just got spilled.

Then change the blending-mode to Multiply to make sure the blood gets darker and "falls" over the shadows which will make it look like the blood is actually on the text.

And to miraculously remove all the blood that's not part of the text, press CTRL+SHIFT+G. WHat this does, is that it masks the layer selected with the layer underneath it. Meaning that everything not visible in the layer underneath, will remain invisible in the layer selected.

The bloody shadow
To create the bloody mess underneath the text, simply use one (or a few) of your blood brushes on a new layer and place that layer behind the text and the overlayed blood-layer. Remember again to use the same color as before and also the same blending-mode.
Using Edit>Transform>Perspective, transform the blood-layer that way, it will look like it's on the ground. To do that, you will have to perform 2 simple actions. Once you've activated the perspective-transformation, drag one of the top corner anchor-points closer to the center. When they are close enough, do not press ENTER yet, but go to Edit>Transform>Free Transform and drag the upper center anchor-point closer to the center.
That should make the blood-layer look like a "rug" laying underneath the text.

Finish it off with a nice shadow made using a VERY stretched circle on a new layer.
Create a new layer above the blood-carpet and grab the Circular Marquee-Tool and drag the tool from the left of the text to the right and a little bit down so you will get a very long egg (or pancake).
Fill that selection with black and go to Filter>Blur>Gaussian Blur and add a nice soft blur of 2-3 pixels. Then lower the opacity and admire your work!

Step 1

Open up a new document (600X250px) and create a new layer called ‘black background’. Fill your entire canvas with black.

Step 2

Now add some white text to the center of your canvas. I used the font ‘Gill Sans’ set to bold.

Step 3

Now duplicate your text layer. Select your original and rasterize it (layer>rasterize>layer). Then apply a motion blur to this layer by going to filter>blur>motion blur. Set your angle to 90 and your blur strength to 20. Finally reduce your layer’s opacity to 60%.

Step 4

Now paste in an image of some smoke. Make sure that you find an image of smoke on a black background, and if there is any color to your smoke go to image>adjustments>desaturate. Then change your layer’s blend mode to ‘exclusion’.

Step 5

Now select a large, soft eraser brush at a low opacity (around 10%) and erase the edges of your smoke image.

Step 6

Now repeat the same technique with another smoke image.

Step 7

Add some more smoke, being sure to erase parts of each image until things are looking good.

Step 8

Now paste in another smoke image, and set your layer blend mode to ‘multiply’. Then go to image>adjustments>levels and set your input levels to 0, 1.00, 100.

Step 9

You’ll notice that this layer now hides some of your previous smoke layers. To fix this grab a soft eraser brush and erase around your letters, exposing the rest of your smoke.

Step 10

Now if you remember we created 2 text layers earlier and rasterized the first one. Now it’s time to rasterize the second one. Once you have done this grab your smudge tool, and set your brush size to 40px and your strength to 60%. You want to start smudging the tops of the letters of your top text layer. To achieve a nice smokey effect, don’t simply smudge upwards, but make small circular smudging motions.

Also reduce this text layers opacity to 75%.

Step 11

Select your paintbrush tool and apply the settings shown below in your brush palette.

Step 12

Now paint over your text on a new top layer. To make your scattered brush marks more obvious duplicate your layer and merge it down with the original. Then apply an outer glow blending option to your layer (settings below).

Antivirus Lokal lainnya kebanyakan sudah tidak dikembangkan lagi dan sebagian lainnya tetap dikembangkan seadanya.

Agar lebih mudah dalam mengelompokkan 40 antivirus lokal ini, saya akan membaginya menjadi 3 kategori. Kategori 1, adalah 3 antivirus yang masih rutin dalam pengembangannya, dan memiliki banyak pengguna. Kategori 2, adalah antivirus yang masih dikembangkan tetapi belum rutin, dan masih memiliki sedikit pengguna. Kategori 3, adalah antivirus yang sudah tidak aktif dan tidak dikembangkan lagi. Dan untuk mengetahui kelebihan fungsi antivirus lokal dalam daftar ini, akan ditambahkan Smad-Rating setelah nama antivirusnya, Smad-Rating adalah penilaian terhadap seluruh kelebihan dan kekurangan antivirus lokal dengan nilai minimal 0 dan maksimal 10.

1. PCMAV (9)

Inilah Antivirus Lokal yang paling banyak digunakan masyarakat Indonesia saat ini. PCMAV adalah pelopor antivirus lokal karena merupakan antivirus indonesia pertama yang diciptakan team antivirus majalah PCMedia dan mulai populer pada awal tahun 2006. Sampai sekarang PCMAV terus menunjukkan berbagai kelebihannya yaitu dapat mencegah dan membersihkan sebagian besar virus lokal hingga tuntas tanpa menghapus dokumen. Sayangnya, untuk melakukan pembersihan tuntas ini, PCMAV masih bergantung pada database virus lokal yang bisa kita update tiap minggu di situsnya. PCMAV juga sering merilis PCMAV versi khusus yang powerful untuk virus tertentu, misalnya PCMAV for Conficker dan PCMAV for Sality yang akan dirilis beberapa hari lagi. Kelebihan lainnya, PCMAV dapat digabungkan dengan CLAMAV (database virus internasional) untuk memperkuat pertahanan untuk mencegah virus yang mencoba menginfeksi komputer. Ansav adalah antivirus lokal alternatif pesaing PCMAV yang mulai populer sejak oktober 2006. Ansav mempunyai komunitas besar (ansaver) yang sering berdiskusi di forum ansav, Team Ansav juga sering mengadakan seminar tentang virus & antivirus. Ansav mempunyai banyak kelebihan yang tidak dimiliki antivirus lokal lainnya, yang paling menonjol adalah sistem proteksinya yang sangat sensitif dan benar-benar tertanam sempurna di komputer, akibatnya dimana saja ada akses terhadap file maka akan langsung discan ansav, kekurangan sistem proteksi ini adalah kurang sempurnanya Ansav jika dipadukan dengan antivirus impor dalam satu komputer. Kelebihan lainnya, Ansav memiliki Plug-In (Add-on) yang bisa diciptakan oleh siapapun yang ingin membantu perkembangan tool pada Ansav. Ansav juga mempunyai teknik heuristik yang cukup banyak sehingga dapat mendeteksi virus dan tidak hanya bergantung pada database saja. Kekurangan Ansav adalah pada pembersihan virus, Ansav tidak melakukan pembersihan tuntas dengan melakukan pembersihan registry secara otomatis setelah virus terbunuh, jadi setelah komputer dibersihkan menggunakan Ansav akan menyisakan beberapa kerusakan oleh virus yang belum diperbaiki.

Smadav mulai muncul pada Maret 2007 dan mulai awal 2009 mulai menunjukkan peningkatan pengguna yang signifikan, walaupun tidak sebanyak pengguna PCMAV dan ANSAV. Kelebihan Smadav adalah pada scanning yang sangat cepat dan scanning dan proteksinya yang ringan sehingga tidak banyak menggunakan resource komputer. Smadav mempunyai fitur-fitur manual sebagai senjata melawan virus lokal, jika user menguasai fitur-fitur manual ini maka semua virus lokal akan dapat dibersihkan walaupun belum terdeteksi oleh Smadav. Smadav juga akan membersihkan sampai tuntas infeksi dari virus, caranya dengan mendeteksi 1500 daerah registry dan memperbaikinya jika ada kerusakan. Sistem Proteksi Smadav dipastikan dapat digabung sempurna dengan antivirus lain manapun. Proteksi Smadav juga mampu mendeteksi hampir semua virus yang hinggap di Flashdisk. Walau tanpa update sekalipun, Smadav dapat menggunakan (teknik heuristik) kecerdikannya untuk mendeteksi file virus. Kekurangan Smadav mungkin belum bisa membersihkan tuntas virus impor (seperti conficker, sality, alman, dll), Smadav hanya bisa mencegah virus impor sebelum menginfeksi komputer.
